Stainless Steel Piping for Process and Utility Systems

New Installations and Prefabrication

For new piping runs, we prepare sections in advance wherever possible. We do this with a “prefab-first” mindset. This helps keep on-site work manageable. When space is limited or installation time is short, we can get a head start in our own workshop.

We first take measurements and determine the materials, connection points and joining method. We then decide which sections can be prefabricated in the workshop and which connections will be made on site through field welding or local prefabrication.

Modifications to Existing Installations

Modifying an existing installation generally requires more investigation than a new installation. Pipes, machines or other equipment may be in the way. Not everything at the customer’s site is always easy to access or assess.

We measure the piping route, determine what needs to remain in operation during the work and prepare each section. We also agree on what needs to be isolated, dismantled or protected beforehand.

Mapress

Not every piping run needs to be welded. Where the application and the project requirements (or preferences) allow it, we use Mapress. This press-fit connection method allows us to join pipes without welding and therefore without introducing heat.

We first check whether the system is suitable for the medium, operating conditions and installation requirements. We do this directly with Geberit, and you receive a certificate approving its use.

We then carry out the installation and the agreed inspections. A pressure test may also be part of the project.

TIG and Orbital Welding

Depending on the application, we use manual TIG or orbital welding. Orbital welding can be a suitable choice when repeatable results, consistent quality and controlled welding parameters are important. This is often the case in critical environments such as the pharmaceutical industry. Manual TIG welding remains a skill that is needed for joints that cannot be welded orbitally because of their location or shape.

Inspection and Documentation

During preparation, we agree on which inspections and documents are relevant to the project and the customer. Depending on the project, these may include weld logs, visual inspections, endoscopic inspections, pressure tests and material records.
